What Is UHP Hydroblasting?

The act of water-jet cleaning/pressure washing at extreme operating pressures in order to clear a surface of unwanted preservatives or residues.

Why & When Is UHP Hydroblasting Utilized?

There are several instances where UHP pressure washing is needed in our day and age. For starters, to accomplish cleanliness on some of the machinery used in today’s industrial world requires more than the standard 100 to 4000 PSI water blasting. Depending on what chemicals are being used or at what temperatures machinery is being run at continuously can create environments that can change chemical bonds to unwanted residues. Over time these residues can be built up causing corrosion that lead to leaks, blockages or obstructions. This can be detrimental to the equipment running as well as its beneficiary. Some equipment may include but is not limited to: boilers and boiler tubes, condensers and condenser tubes, heat exchangers and tube bundles.

Another example where UHP Hydroblasting may be used is upon surfaces being prepped for refinishing. Most tanks and vessels are coated with high-impact performing coatings used for the preservation of the metals or its withstanding substances. Even still, these materials need to be refinished due to time and slow erosion. Upon the necessity for their removal we turn to UHP Hydroblasting due to the coatings ability to withstand mass amounts of trauma.

In both instances some contractors may turn to mechanical cleaning which is also effective yet in some cases can be damaging the machinery and its manufactured metals. (See Condenser, Cooler, and Boiler Tube/Pipe Cleaning for more information.)
